Bennett was so excited to show me what he figured out how to do during his nap. Since we didn't want to chance a broken limb, we converted his bed that night.

My easy life, as I know it, is over.
3 hour naps-OVER
Naps period-OVER
Easy bedtime-OVER
8:00pm bedtime-OVER
Sleeping past 7:00am-OVER

We are on day 5 and the transition was not as bad as I thought. We only have to take him back to bed once or twice, and hopefully it will improve over time. I love him so so so much, but that cute face staring at me at 5am is not something I want to wake up to daily. We have to work on that wake up time.

Shortly after Bennett was born we found out that he had a cyst on his eye socket that needed removed. Apparently the bone in between your eye and your temple is not always fused when they are in the womb. In very rare cases, when it comes together it can sometimes trap 1 skin cell and start to grow a little pocket of skin inside. So as the child grows, so does the cyst. It can be no way harmful as long as it is taken out before it gets big enough to push on the optic area and affect his vision.

He needed a MRI in preparation for the surgery. Isn't that the cutest noggin you have ever seen, look how smart he is. The cyst is the white bubble on the right side.

MRI day was awful. They had to sedate him through an IV since he would have to be still for 40 minutes. The had a hard time getting into a vein. After 4 pokes, lots of blood and screaming, they finally were successful.

The before shot. Can you spot it? Most kids' grow right on the bone so it is very obvious. Bennetts grew mostly into his temple so it is hardly noticeable.

Recovery has been pretty easy. He hardly skipped a beat. He was back to bouncing off the walls by the time we got home and has never complained about his scraped bone or 10 stitches. Kids heal so fast. He will have a scar but they cut on his eye lid, on an natural crease so you will have to search pretty hard to spot it.

We are alive

My posting has been few and far in between. Sadly, my picture taking has been the same. Here is all the proof that I have that we existed in the past few months.

Bennett is goofy as usual. He wore this "hat" all day. It is really the lid to our laundry room garbage can, so it is clean, just a little linty maybe. He looks so grown up to me in this picture.

We took Bennett to his first sporting event. I'm not sure how he has avoided them for so long.

Uncle Mitch and Aunt Holly came over and Bennett roped them into coloring. Bennett would get really frusterated when they would use an earth tone color. He would grab it out of their hand and trde it with a brighter color. Problem: Uncle Mitch is color blind. So Bennett was constantly having to correct him.



Sad picture: Bennett is beyond obsessed with Lightening McQueen. He really wanted to take him in the bath but I was afraid of it rusting. Don't worry, I caved right after I got a funny/sad picture.

For He's a Jolly Good Fellow

Long Story-Short:
Jon has worked so hard at his job and just got a promotion. I am so proud of him.
Long Story:
In fall of 2007 we started our own company...but in a bad economy and an even worse business partner it did not take long for us to see that we were headed nowhere good. Summer of 2008 found us unemployed and unless you have been living under a rock somewhere you know that was not the most favorable time to be in the job hunt. We had had a baby that previous winter, we should have been having the time of our lives. We were thrilled, elated with our amazing little boy but with that came fear and gloom of how we were going to provide for him. I tend to think that my Jon has amazing qualities and alot to offer but interviews came and went with only false hope. My brother was able to get him an interview where he worked and after a long process, prayers were answered and he was offered a job in August. He was in sales, a place where Jon is comfortable, and things seemed to be looking good for us. In March Jon and about 12 others were called in to a meeting. Layoffs had hit and Jon was one of them. We were devastated and shocked. It had literally come from nowhere. His former boss pulled him aside and told him to apply for any other position in the company and he would put in a good word for him. When Jon came home after the shock had settled he jumped on line and started to apply. Not a few days went by before he got a call for an interview in the previous company, in the technical division. Interviews ect. he was offered a job. He was not out of a job for longer than 2 weeks. Again, such a blessing. We were excited and relieved but Jon was scared. He was so far from qualified for this job it was funny. Jon is so far from that type. He is loud and friendly with a laugh that is infectious. So not a techy, who lives in their Mom's basement quoting Board of the Rings.(apologies) But a job was a job and we was not about to turn it down-fake it till you make it-and that he did. Everything was so far over his head but he literally taught himself everything that one with that kind of a degree should know. Fast forward almost a year. He has done great! He caught on fast and has been receiving praises often. He has worked so hard and is the happiest I have ever known him to be in a job. It was also the lowest paying job he has ever had in our married life, but that doesn't matter at all. He is happy, doing hard work and getting noticed. Early this week he was called in for meeting and offered a promotion!!! This promotion was only offered to him. Others have extensive degrees in this field and have worked there longer than Jon but HE got it. I am so proud of him and so grateful that I married such a hard worker, sweet husband and Dad. (BIG Smooch!)

Once upon a time........

My Parents took the family to DisneyLand for our Christmas present and what a fantastic idea it was. Here is the only group shot we got, too busy having a blast I guess.

We went the week before Christmas for 3 days. It was busy but not too busy that we couldn't enjoy it. It was decorated so fun for Christmas.

Do you think Bennett had a good time?? Well, he did. He did fantastic the entire trip. I kept waiting for a melt down because he was so exhausted but it never happened. He loved every minute, minus the Santa part. We have such a good boy.

Thanks for the great trip, Mom and Dad!! We loved every bit.
