HAPPY BIRHTDAY JONNY!!

Yesterday was Jon's birthday. He was born in 1976, so you do the math. For the next 24 hours he is 10 years older that me- Talk about robbing the cradle.
He had a fun day. It was pretty low key. We just hung out all day. At night I invites some of our neighbor friends over for cake. I didn't tell him they were coming. He was so surprised when the door bell kept ringing and more friends would show up. Thanks for everyone who came. He had a great birthday.

I love a challenge

I have always heard people say that it is much harder to find cute clothes for boys than it is for girls. I have found this to be true, but not impossible. I was not about to let a difficult task keep my child from wearing a new Easter outfit.
Do they have GQ Baby???

I think it turned out pretty cute. So cute that it made an entire Saturday of shopping worth it. All 5 pieces of the outfit came from different stores. By the end of the day Jon was about to kill me. But when he saw the entire ons amble, I was quickly forgiven.

Our Easter was pretty fun. We went to church........well Jon did. Bennett and I spend church walking the halls. It was the only way he would stay asleep. After church we spent the evening with Jon's family.

Silly Uncle David.

Bennett, taking a nap in Aunt Charee's closet.
Doesn't he look like a little caterpillar, all wrapped up in his swaddler?

Cousin Ashton could not get enough of Bennett. They played all day. She is such a pretty little girl, even with an orange soda mustache.

I always look forward to Easter for one reason and one reason only. Mmmmm........

His Easter loot!

He could hardly wait to get a hold of his new binks. It's like candy for babies.

He was so tired from all the fun.

Bowling

Monday night we went bowling with my family for Family Home Evening. We always have so much fun when we get together. Even though we were missing a few members we still managed to have a good time.

I love the CaRpEt in bowling alleys!!

This is my niece Natalee. She is eating a green roll for St. Patrick's Day. She was a little unsure of it at first. She had to lick it a few times before she realized it was safe.

Check out my brother Dallas's SwEeT form.

Can you see Jon's bowling shirt? It is red and orange with FlAmEs!! Sexy, I know. We keep that shirt in our closet for the once a year (if that) we go bowling.

Should this make me NeRvOuS??? I think she bowled better with him than without.

You Are My Sunshine

The other day it was finally warm enough to go outside. So we brushed the dust off of our brand new stroller and went out to meet some friends in the park. As you can see he thoroughly enjoyed himself.

I couldn't decide what picture was the cutest, so lucky you. You get to see them all.

Our Little Shrimp

Monday was a very busy day! It started off bright and early taking Bennett to his 4 month check up, even though he is not quit 4 months yet. I was a little bit eager to get him into the doctor to see how much he weighed. I had a suspicion that he was not gaining weight. I started to realize that he has not even come close to growing out of his 0-3 months clothes yet. One day I tried to put him in a 3-6 out fit. I had been bouncing him to put him to sleep, when I laid him down I saw he had no pants on. I retraced my steps and found that I had bounced them right off. So I called up my Mom, who works for his doctor and she got us right in. Sure enough my suspicions were spot on. The stats speak for them self:
Height - 25 inches - 50%
Weight - 11.9 lbs. 9oz. - 5%
Head - 42 cm - 50%
I have said this time and time again but here I go again, who would have thought that OUR child would ever be in the 5% for weight?? Well, hopefully not for long. The doctor told me to feed him a lot more often, even when he doesn't act hungry. To his low weight I credit his awesome sleep schedule. He sleeps so great that he sleeps right through feedings. I was a little concerned that he doctor would tell me to wake him up, because I have heard some doctors have given that counsel to friends, but luckily we are not to that point yet. It's a good thing because I would have a really hard time bring myself to breaking his awesome routine.
Of course after finding out your child is starving, the Mom guilt sets in. But hopefully we will get him chunked up in no time, so my guilt will be short lived. I'm sure it won't take long. Jon has taken it upon himself to show him how to pack on the pounds. I feed him all that I have to offer, then Jon takes him and gives him an ounce or two of formula. He didn't like it as much as "The Sauce" at first, but it's growing on him. Since then he has been a lot happier and a lot more active. The poor little guy, just needed some extra fuel.

"IT"

After the doctor appointment I took Bennett to a school I used to work at to show him off. It turned out to be the worst idea I have had as a mother thus far. But I am sure it won't be long till I top the charts with another.
He was so fussy from having his shots, he would not let anyone but me hold him without crying. As I was bouncing him and catching up with the ladies, the sound of us chatting was drowned out by the sound of my son "relieving himself". It was a bit embarrassing, but not as embarrassing as what followed. My friend said, "Ummmmmm, MarKey. IT is coming out of his pants." Sure enough, I look down and IT was running out of both pant legs, and making a lovely puddle on his socks.
I really like to consider myself prepared for times like these, but of course not today. His clothes were unsalvageable. IT drenched every piece of clothing he had on. I had to strip him down, while he was screaming of course, and put him in a clean diaper and a blanket until I got him home to a bath. But all the cleaning was not done alone, my friends jumped in and were not afraid to get their hand dirty (literally). "You know your friend are true, when they are not afraid of your child's pooh." (I made that line up just now. You can quote me if you want.)
So all in all, Bennett did not give the best first impression. Hopefully he will bring his real self next time to make a better second impression.

What your name again???

When meeting someone for the first time (or the 8th) the conversation usually goes like this:
What's your name?
MarKey
It's what?
MarKey
Margene?
No, MarKey
Marcie?
No, MarKey
Oh, with a Q?
No, a capital K-e-y
Oh, how did you get that name?
Well, I will answer the question to all who have asked and for all who haven't dared:

Meet my Dad, Marcus ( he's not really in a wheel chair)

And my Mom, Becky

They got creative and took the MAR from my Dad's name, and the KEY from my Mom's. They capitalized the K so that there would be an emphasis on the Key, in attempts to not make it sound like a boy name. (when reading my name people still expect me to be a boy, but thats ok)It is kind of a fun game to play with you and your husbands names to see what they come up with. Here are the results of mine and Jon's(Jonathan) name game:
Marathon
Jonkey
Maron
You can see why we didn't take this route in naming our child.

When hearing my name for the first time I get a variety of reactions.
"Like the diamond"

"Like the sign"

or the classic, "Is that your last name or your first?"

My parents were also creative in naming their other 4 children. Meet the family:
(from left to right)
Dallas (a family name), Shilo (from the Neal Diamond Song, in the song Shilo is an imaginary boy, but what ever???), Dad, Me, Jon, Mom, Skipper(a family name) and Sunny(had severe jaundice as a baby, you can figure it out)

I'm sorry the picture is not the best. You are missing out on what a handsome bunch we are.

As much as I appreciate a name out of the ordinary, it does get a little old having a 10 minute "what's your name" conversation every time I introduce myself. I always swore I would give my child a name that was different, but not unheard of. I wanted it to be read and automatically know what it said, To avoid and awkwardness of it being sounded out, which would always result in slottering it. Yes, I am speaking from experience.

When naming Bennett I thought that I had found the perfect name, one that would allow his name to be said with no questions asked, but also be appreciated for it's uniqueness. But my glory was short lived. It came to a screeching halt the other day when I took Bennett to the doctor. I went up to the front desk to check us in, the receptionist asked for the patients name. I replied "Bennett", and she said, and "No, what is his first name?"

TAG-I'm it

The rules:
Tell 10 interesting/weird things about you.
When you are done assign 3 others the same task.

1- I love to do laundry- I get so excited when I run out of fabric softer, because it means I get to go buy a new kind. I love trying all the different kinds.
To date my favorite is:

And my least favorite is:

2- I can't sleep with my palms exposed. I have no idea why. It makes me feel vulnerable or something. I have to have the closed or tucked under my legs or pillow.
3-I would love to have multiples. My favorite show is Jon and Kate plus 8. It looks so caotic and crazy, but a fun kind of crazy. I also love to marvel at Kate. She is SUPER WOMAN!!

4- I was in a couple of movies as a child.

They are children's LDS videos. I played a little pioneer girl. (Please don't tell the paparazzi's where I live. I like my privacy.)
5- I love pineapple- add it to anything and I'm thrilled!

6-I think I am the only woman in the world who doesn't love OPRAH. I have nothing against her. She is a great person, but I can't stand to watch her show. I like to keep the things in my life happy, and I find that her show is so sad.

7-I was in the relief society in our old ward. A lot of you already know this but for those of you who went to high school with me, this should be hilarious!
8-One of my best friends is 5 years old.

She is my niece. I love spending time with her, and miss her so much when I go too long between visits.

9-I have dyed my have dyed my hair more times and colors combinations than I can remember.

There are so many more than are shown, even neon orange, on accident and purple with black low lights, sadly on purpose.
Sorry the pictures are not the best. My scanner is wigging out.
10-I am a bit of a night owl. I don't have the best sleep habits. I really hoped that having a baby would fix it, but no such luck. If you notice when most of my posts and comments are published you can see what I do instead of sleeping. My bed time ranges from 12:00-4:00. If only they made the book,"Healthy sleep habits, happy Mommy"

I am going to break the rules a bit and tag a little more than assigned.
Abby, Chrissy, Sunny, Shannon, Steffanie, Elon, Nia, Liz, Kacey and Morgan.
I also want to tag my friends who don't have a blog because they say they have nothing to post.........now you do. Betsy, Stephanie, Natalie and Ashley.
