Summer Fest

A few weeks ago we went to Orem's Summer Fest. Bennett loved the parade, especially the marching bands and anything with a siren.

We also stuck around for the fire works. Realizing we were taking a serious gamble, we parked close for an easy exit if needed. But no need, he absolutely loved them.


We are looking forward to summer with him and
experiencing all the fun things for the first time all over again.

What's next.........clothe diapers?

Recently I have had a fun time making Bennett's baby food. It is so much cheaper, tastier and I can make organic. It is worth the small labor of love to ensure that I am giving him the best food possible. (If only I took so much care in what we eat.) Maybe this is old news to some of you but I never knew that you could make your own. I thought Gerber had some special ingredient that babies had to have. I was first introduced to it by my cousin.(thanks Liz) When I told my Mom I was thinking of doing it she laughed at me. I guess homemade was all I was ever fed. She gave me some of her pointers and now I am a pro!!
At the end of a day of steaming, pureeing and freezing, Jon came into the kitchen. "Home made baby food? What's next clothe diapers?" Then after filling him in on how fun and cheap it was, he is just as excited about it as I am. We are brain storming on what else to make. So far we have made: sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, squash, carrots, pears, apples, peaches and the favorite bananas. Apricots and nectarines are coming soon.
So to answer Jon's question, NO. Clothe diapers are not in our future. My granola streak ends here.

Go Mets!!

We don't usually cheer for the Mets in our house, but for the past two months we have been loyal fans. Jon has been coaching our nephews baseball team who were the Mets. They are 11-14 years old and he has had a fun time with them. Last night ended the season and they took second place.
Way to go boys!!

So many Dad's.......

We are so blessed to have so many wonderful Fathers in our lives.

My Dad so supportive and works so hard to help his kids and make us happy. He has always been a huge support in all we do. He is one of the smartest people I know and he is so talented. Here are just a few things he has made us recently.


I could not ask for a better Father in Law. He lives in California but comes to Utah every chance he gets. He has so much love for his family, especially his 14 grandkids who he knows and loves each of them individually.


I didn't think that these guys could get any better until I had Bennett. They are great Dad' s but even better Granddad's. Bennett is so lucky to have them.

But of all the Fathers in mine and Bennett's life I would have to say our favorite is of course our DAD. He and Bennett have such a sweet bond and I cannot wait to see it grow.

You can't see much of Bennett but he is in there. I promise. Look at Jon's beaming face. I have never seen him as happy as on Bennett birthday.

I have always known that Jon would make a great Dad but he has exceeded all my expectations.


He thinks and worries about him constantly, getting up a few times in the night to check on him, still.

For the longest time, Jon was the only one who get Bennett to laugh. I was a little offended;)

I love to see them play and I love to see the excitement from both of them when they see each other for the first time that day.

I have to tease Jon with this picture. It was really just a fluke because as you can see Bennett welcomes his kisses.


It is a rule in our house that Bennett never puke on me, just on Dad. It does not matter when he ate or what they are doing but he gets pukes an at least 80% of the time. I am not sure why, it has just always been like that. I have to say, I don't mind a bit.


There are many situations, such as blow outs, that Jon just takes care of with out me even knowing. Last week we went out to breakfast. While we were waiting for our food Jon took Bennett to the car to change his diaper. Five minutes later they returned with Bennett in his swim suit and swim shirt. He had a blow out and that was all Jon could find in the car to put him in.

California On the Fly

Every year Jon's family rents a beach house in Newport. We had realized a little while ago that we would not be able to go. But last minute Jon found a way. And I am glad he did. We were not able to stay for very long but it was fun while it lasted. We decided on Thursday that we were going and we hit he road that evening.

We stopped half way and spent the night. Bennett got his own bed at the hotel, but he preferred to sleep with us. So half way through the night........I got my own bed.

Bennett thought he was pretty big eating in a high chair. He has never got to do that before, I just feed him in his Bumbo.

Bennett was not a huge fan of the water but he did think sand was pretty cool. He didn't even eat too much.




We went to the Crab Cooker. It is so yummy, but my favorite part is the $30 entree's served on PAPER PLATES.

We had to come home on Tuesday for Jon's little league baseball game..........only for it to get canceled 20 minutes before. So, we came home early for NOTHING. That was kind of a bummer but a little vacation is better than no vacation at all.

I have a funny story about this part of the book. I was reading Twilight one day while Bennett was taking a nap. I got to this part (dance studio) and was all wrapped up in it. In the midst of reading as fast as I could, with white knuckles from holding on to the book so tight, I hear a growl echoing from the baby monitor. If you have read it you know how appropriate growling at this point would be. It scared me to death. Of course it was just sweet Bennett, letting me know he was awake and ready to play. When he was a few months old he picked up this silly growl/gargle noise. It has always cracked us up......well every day but that day.

I have to be honest about my opinion of the books. I really was a little disappointed. I enjoy them but I can not get over the fact that I am reading about VaMpIrEs. Vampires who read minds, don't age and run really fast!?! Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate them. They just don't captivate me like they do most people. But I am not swearing them off. I have not completed the series. I am on book 2 and still trucking along.
