Our Little Shrimp

Monday was a very busy day! It started off bright and early taking Bennett to his 4 month check up, even though he is not quit 4 months yet. I was a little bit eager to get him into the doctor to see how much he weighed. I had a suspicion that he was not gaining weight. I started to realize that he has not even come close to growing out of his 0-3 months clothes yet. One day I tried to put him in a 3-6 out fit. I had been bouncing him to put him to sleep, when I laid him down I saw he had no pants on. I retraced my steps and found that I had bounced them right off. So I called up my Mom, who works for his doctor and she got us right in. Sure enough my suspicions were spot on. The stats speak for them self:
Height - 25 inches - 50%
Weight - 11.9 lbs. 9oz. - 5%
Head - 42 cm - 50%
I have said this time and time again but here I go again, who would have thought that OUR child would ever be in the 5% for weight?? Well, hopefully not for long. The doctor told me to feed him a lot more often, even when he doesn't act hungry. To his low weight I credit his awesome sleep schedule. He sleeps so great that he sleeps right through feedings. I was a little concerned that he doctor would tell me to wake him up, because I have heard some doctors have given that counsel to friends, but luckily we are not to that point yet. It's a good thing because I would have a really hard time bring myself to breaking his awesome routine.
Of course after finding out your child is starving, the Mom guilt sets in. But hopefully we will get him chunked up in no time, so my guilt will be short lived. I'm sure it won't take long. Jon has taken it upon himself to show him how to pack on the pounds. I feed him all that I have to offer, then Jon takes him and gives him an ounce or two of formula. He didn't like it as much as "The Sauce" at first, but it's growing on him. Since then he has been a lot happier and a lot more active. The poor little guy, just needed some extra fuel.

Good thing he's such a cutie! I WISH I could say that I had the same problem, but I didn't. Easton was a GOOD eater (nursed every 2 hours until he was probably too old to nurse that often, like 6 or 8 months!). He still is a good eater. But, even with that, he really stayed in his 0-3 mo. clothes for a long time.

Don't feel bad! There's no way to know he's hungry if he's not telling you! YOu're a great mommy!

That sounds all too familiar. For probably 6 months everyone told me I was starving my child. I almost broke down, it was so hard. But as long as he is gaining some he is alright...what a cutie!

I love the picture! You are a good mom! You took him to the doc as soon as you thought something was wrong. Zac was very small at that age also but his was because of Reflux. I never had alot of milk so that is why the bottle is such a great thing.
